Frances “Fran” Kelly, 85, of Waukee died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at HCI Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas Center with burial to follow at Brethren Cemetery.
Fran was born December 27, 1930, to Wilton and Rose Johnston at home in Kent. She graduated from Creston High School and then Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1952. She was a surgical nurse for Dr. Woodburn and Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Ben Kelly; sons, Stephen (Cynthia) Schoch, Ben (Denise) Kelly and Joe (Lori) Kelly; and grandchildren, Spencer and Slater Schoch, Ben (Jack) and Sean Kelly and Ashley, and Stephanie and Jessie Soloman.
Fran was preceded in death by her brother, Brown Lee, parents and grandparents.
Fran loved being with her family and entertaining friends. She had a passion for bridge, golf, flowers, gardening and was a fabulous cook.
