Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 12:47 a.m. Thursday in Ringgold County.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, Galen R. White, 62, of Kent, driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson, and Michael A. Fry, 56, of Creston, driving a 2001 Harley-Davidson, were both traveling north on Highway P33 when the rear vehicle went to pass the front vehicle and struck the vehicle it was passing, causing loss of control and the driver to be ejected from the vehicle.

White was transported by Mercy One air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Fry was transported by ground ambulance to Ringgold County Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Michael Clay Ward Jr., 19, of Afton was cited for following too closely after an accident 4:01 p.m. Friday in Afton.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Ward, driving a 2008 Ford north on Douglas Street in Afton, struck a 2005 Dodge driven north on Douglas Street by Michael Charles Miller, 49, of Ida Grove, who was slowing to make a turn into a driveway. Ward was following too close to stop in time to not hit Miller’s vehicle.

Damage estimates are $2,500 to both Ward and Miller’s vehicles.

No citations were issued after an accident 5:13 p.m. Tuesday at Wal-Mart.

According to a Creston Police report, Logan Dean Holste, 18, of Orient, driving a 2001 Ford south in the parking lot at Wal-Mart, 806 Laurel St., began turning left to pull through a parking space and slid into a parked 2003 Ford. Holste thought his brakes may have failed or he was just going too fast and slid on the wet pavement.

Damage estimates are $500 to Holste’s vehicle and $1,000 to the parked Ford.
