Central College

PELLA – The following students presented their work in Central College’s undergraduate research symposium.

Taylor Hull of Greenfield participated in the independent research in chemistry symposium session with the presentation, “Cobalt catalyzed acceptorless dehydrogenation of alcohols.”

Alex Tamerius of Creston participated in the globalization and development symposium session with the presentation, “ComSan: Building sanitation facilities and Caommunity in Senegal.”

Cole Tanner of Greenfield participated in the marketing research symposium session with the presentation, “Consumer willingness to pay for a local, organic and GMO-free product.”

Founded in 1853, Central College of Pella is a private, residential four-year liberal arts college known for its academic rigor and strength in global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), sustainability education, athletics success and tradition, and leadership and service. University of Northern Iowa

CEDAR FALLS – Students from the local area are among the students named to the spring 2016 semester dean’s list at the University of Northern Iowa.

To be included on the list, a student must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking at least 12 hours of graded work during the semester.

Kain Queck of Corning, Jana Johnson, Annette Reasoner and Ashtyn Riley, all of Creston, Riley McMorran of Greenfield and Emma Stephens of Lorimor were named to the dean’s list.

CEDAR FALLS – New alumni were added to the roster of graduates of the University of Northern Iowa. Mckinzie Boes of Fontanelle was among the graduates. Boes graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in history.

Northwest Technical College

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Chance Sheffield from Bedford earned dean’s list honors from Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, Minnesota, at the conclusion of the spring 2016 semester.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, NTC students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits and earn a 3.5 GPA during the semester. A total of 114 students earned spring 2016 dean’s list honors from the college.

Northwest Technical College, located in northern Minnesota’s Lake District, is an open, inviting technological learning organization. For more than 40 years, the college has valued life-long learning and the worth and dignity of all people. The college serves 900 students with a high-quality education, an open-enrollment policy and affordable tuition. NTC offers nearly 60 degree, diploma and certificate programs in areas such as business, health, human and protective services and environmental and industrial technology. Kirkwood Community College

CEDAR RAPIDS — Kirkwood Community College has announced the graduating class of 2015-16. College faculty and administration joined friends and family in saluting the graduates at commencement ceremonies May 14 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.

Leigh Davis of Diagonal was one of the graduates.

Des Moines Area Community College

DES MOINES – Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) President Rob Denson recently released the names of students eligible for the spring semester dean’s list. To be eligible, a student must have earned a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA.

Those recognized from the area include Elizabeth Hileman, surgical technology, and Natalie Mostek, liberal arts, both of Creston.
