Carter joins CNA sports staff

Kaleb Carter

Kaleb Carter has joined the Creston News Advertiser staff as sports reporter.

Carter, 22, is from Jamestown, Ohio. He replaced Larry Peterson when Peterson became senior feature writer.

“I got the chance to visit a couple places here on a trip out west and interview for a couple jobs, and I liked Creston more than any of the other places I went through,” Carter said. “It was an easy choice. I like the workroom environment.”

Carter attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, graduating in April with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He interned at Athens News in Athens for a summer, and worked as freelance reporter at HustleBelt.com, a Mid-American Conference blog, and staff writer at New Political, an online local political news source for four years.

In his spare time, Carter enjoys reading news and nonfiction about criminal justice and watching mid-major college basketball, Spongebob Squarepants and professional wrestling.

Carter started as sports reporter Tuesday. He is single and living in Creston.

“I’m super excited to work here,” Carter said. “Sports reporting is something that I’ve always wanted to do, so I knew jumping into it and covering prep sports would be something that would come naturally.”
