ISSB Night with kid’s candy drop

CORNING — Night five of the 2016 season at Adams County Speedway brought the guest apperance of ISSBee, as well as a kid’s candy drop at intermission courtesy of the Ferrerra Candy Company.

Hobscheidt goes back to back

Jacob Hobscheidt picked up his first career win at ACS in the Stalker Chevrolet B-Modifieds last week, and he went for win number two Saturday.

Shenandoah native Bob Bopp led the field to green and held the lead for the early stages of the race. Clearfield’s Cody Werner seems to have gotten his No. 21 machine dialed in, as he jumped into the lead with around 10 laps to go.

It looked as if Werner was going to collect his first B-mod career win, but a late caution came out with two laps to go. Hobscheidt got a wonderful restart and jumped in front of Werner en route to his second consecutive win. Werner got a season best runner-up finish, points leader Ryan Jenkins finished third, Kody Havens fourth and Shawn Kralik fifth.

Bass gets win in first trip to ACS

Gary Bass is no stranger to victory lane. The reigning Fairgrounds Speedway Track Champion made his first ever appearance at Adams County Speedway and made an early statement by winning his heat race in the Northland Oil Pro-stocks.

The feature started with pole sitter David Naill Jr. suffering a flat tire prior to the start of the race. Glen Hoyt led the early part of the race before Bass got his No. 27 machine dialed in and jumped out to the lead. Championship contenders Greg Miller and Joe Zadina ran into troubles, while Kevin Sharp tried to reel in Bass. Bass held off Sharp and the rest of the field with a comfortable lead and picked up his first ever win at ACS. Joe Zadina finished third, followed by Glen Hoyt in fourth and Butch Bass in fifth.

Three in a row for ‘Cool Hand’ Luke

“Cool Hand” Luke Ramsey has a new Chat Mobility Hobby Stock sitting in his shed waiting to make its first appearance at the Adams County Speedway, but the way his current car has been performing, he might be skeptical of bringing it.

Ramsey started in the 10th spot and wasted little time getting to the front of the field. Once Ramsey got to the front, he checked out and won the race in convincing fashion, his third win in a row. Kurt Hansen shook off his early season woes with a second-place finish. Kenny Champ returned to ACS and brought home a third place, Chris Bates finished with a career-best fourth and Keil Brittain rounded out the top five.

Dennis wins third in a row

Ramsey wasn’t the only driver to garner his third consecutive win on Saturday night.

Prescott native Jesse Dennis did it as well in the POET Biorefining Modifieds. Dennis started in sixth and assumed the lead before the leaders even came to the start/finish line.

Dennis did his best with putting distance on the field in dominating fashion to yet another win. Kansas City native Brett LeFollete came home in second, Dylan “Big Deal” Book third, Jeff Wiggins fourth and JD Gresham fifth.

Hampel shakes off struggles

In the offseason, John Hampel got a brand new Black Diamond Chassis for the No. 2H. Hampel struggled early on in the season trying to adapt to the new car.

He adapted well on Saturday night, capturing his first win of the season in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Late Models. Colton Leal and his father Mike started on the front row, but Hampel quickly took the lead.

Last week’s winner, “Rocket” Robbie Anderson proved to be the toughest challenge for Hampel and looked as if he might be able to get around him, but a caution came out just before Anderson could pass.

Hampel hit his marks on the restart and was able to collect his first win of the season. Defending champion Paul Glendenning came home in third, Micah Brown fourth and Colton Leal fifth. It was a rough night for points leader Sterling Perkins as his No. 3 car suffered ignition troubles that prompted him to end the night five laps early.
