ICA 60, Diagonal 57

DES MOINES — Diagonal was outscored 22-0 in the second quarter here on Friday in a 60-57 loss to Iowa Christian Academy.

Diagonal outscored Iowa Christian Academy in each of the other three quarters.

Jacob Taylor scored 22 points with eight rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots in the loss. Levi Jarred scored 11 points with 10 boards, while Kade Means scored 12 points. Gerad Naill chipped in nine points with five rebounds and Colter Pickering added three points.

Josh Dueker led Iowa Christian Academy with 28 points and six rebounds.

Stanton 78,

Lenox 71

STANTON — Lenox fell in four overtimes here Monday to Stanton, 78-71.

Senior Spencer Brown tied a state record for rebounds with 41 in the loss, while scoring 42 points. It is possibly the first 40-40 game in Iowa history. Brown pulled down 17 offensive rebounds and 24 defensive boards.

The rest of the Tiger team shot just 19 percent from the floor, however. Carson Cline scored nine points and Sam Donaldson added seven. Dawson Tullberg scored six points with eight assists.

Red Oak 40,

SW Valley 48

CORNING — Southwest Valley surrendered a one-point lead going into the fourth quarter here Monday in a 50-48 loss to Red Oak.

Chance Cobb scored 18 points to lead the Timberwolves in the loss, while Wyatt McAlpin added 11 points. Grant Maurer finished with seven points. Scott Palmer scored five points with 10 rebounds and Trenton Drake scored five points with six boards.

SW Valley 85,

East Union 72

CORNING — Southwest Valley sophomore Chance Cobb had an offensive explosion here Tuesday in an 85-72 win over East Union.

Cobb shot 12 of 16 from the field, including 7 of 10 from behind the 3-point arc, scoring 43 points to lead the Timberwolves to victory. Cobb had 21 points at halftime and scored 22 more in the second half.

Wyatt McAlpin and Grant Maurer each scored 12 points in the win, while Scott Palmer had 10 points and five rebounds. Trenton Drake, Bryan Pearson, Tony Klocke and Addison Bull all scored two points apiece.

Mason Gossman scored 23 points to lead East Union, while Gabe Nixon chipped in 19 points. Tyler Kelley scored 14 points and Casey Walter added 10. Kyle Campbell scored six.

GVC 80, Murray 44

ANKENY — Murray committed 13 of its 19 turnovers in the second half of an 80-44 loss to Grand View Christian here on Saturday.

The Mustangs trailed by just six points at halftime, before getting careless with the basketball in the second half.

“We did a great job in the first half, down six and playing very well,” head coach Darin Wookey said. “But in the second half, we did not value the basketball very well. I did not think it was really anything they did different. We just were careless with the ball.”

Bryce Keller and Jack Jones both scored 15 points, with Keller adding 12 rebounds and Jones grabbing five boards. Fisher Decker scored eight points with four rebounds and four assists. Dustin Teas scored four points with three assists, while Thane Simmons contributed two points with seven rebounds.

Murray 60, Mormon Trail 45

GARDEN GROVE — Kenny Boles had a big impact for Murray in his return to the lineup here Tuesday, as the Mustangs picked up a 60-45 win over Mormon Trail.

Boles scored 13 points with nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals in the win.

“It was nice to get Kenny back out there after he had missed the last three and a-half games,” Murray coach Darin Wookey said. “He struggled to knock down his shots, but was effective getting everyone else involved.”

Bryce Keller finished with a game-high 20 points, while Fisher Decker added 10 points. Jack Jones had nine points, while Thane Simmons and Dustin Teas scored four points apiece.

Nodaway Valley 70, Bedford 54

GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley closed out the Pride of Iowa Conference season with a 70-54 win over Bedford here Tuesday.

The win wrapped up a second-place finish for the Wolverines in the POI, finishing in a tie with Interstate 35.

Jackson Lamb recorded a double-double on senior night with 26 points and 14 rebounds to go with eight assists, four steals and three blocked shots. Sam Marnin also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Beau Weinheimer added 11 points.

Spencer Lamb and Nate Venteicher each scored nine points, with Venteicher grabbing four boards. Ryan Jensen scored two points with four rebounds and Dallas Kreager added two points.
