Accidents

Kathryn Sue Spare, 56, of Afton was cited with following too closely after an accident 2:38 p.m. Monday on South Sumner Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Spare, driving a 2003 Ford south on South Sumner Street, was looking down at something not paying attention and when she looked up it was too late to stop and rear-ended a 2001 Chevrolet driven south on South Sumner Street by Kassie Jo Spencer, 20, 208 N. Maple St. Apt. 2. Spencer was waiting for northbound traffic to clear to turn left.

Damage estimates are $2,000 to Spare’s vehicle and $2,000 to Spencer’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 6:47 p.m. Monday on Wyoming Avenue.

According to a Creston Police report, Clifford Mark Williams, 54, 216 N. Walnut St., driving a 1991 Ford south on Wyoming Avenue, lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, struck a power pole, continued southbound across Wyoming Avenue and struck a chain link fence, where the vehicle stopped.

Williams was transported to Greater Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where his condition is currently unavailable.

Damage estimates are $6,000 to Williams’ vehicle, $500 to the power pole owned by Alliant Energy and $750 to the chain link fence owned by TJ Parsons.
