8th boys

ATLANTIC — Atlantic eighth-grade boys defeated Creston Monday, 47-23.

Atlantic went on a 9-0 run in the second quarter to take a 25-18 halftime lead.

“We came out well in the first quarter before they went on their run, and then in the second half we couldn’t find a rhythm to our offense and we were only able to score five points in the entire half,” said Creston coach Scott Wagner. “Our defense wasn’t gad, but they would take our missed shots and really get down the floor.”

Eli Loudon scored 13 points for Creston.

Atlantic also won the B game, 27-12.

“Our first half went well. We were executing our offense and we pressed a little that got us some easy points,” Wagner said. “Then in the second half we went cold and only scored two points. I have seen a lot of growth out of many of these kids. They got better each and every game we played and really gained an understanding of the game of basketball.”

That proved the to be the season finale with Tuesday’s games cancelled by inclement weather.

“It was a good season for the athletes,” Wagner said. “They put in a lot of effort and time and I’m proud of the hard work they put in. I think they will represent Creston well in their high school careers.”
