UCDA offering business classes

Despite passion, drive and an abundance of good ideas, half of all new businesses fail within the first few years. Often that’s because, despite their zeal, entrepreneurs lack the experience and tools required for starting and growing a business.

The Union County Development Association (UCDA), in collaboration with the Small Business Development Center and Southern Iowa Resource Conservation and Development Area Inc., announces SMARTStart and GROWSmart classes. Each class will have two sessions that will be two hours each. The fee for each class is $15.

SMARTStart will be on Monday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 29 and March 7 at the UCDA office, 208 W. Taylor in Creston. The class is designed specifically for aspiring entrepreneurs who are currently thinking of starting a business. SMARTStart not only helps uncover the answers, it also helps determine the questions to ask.

GROWSmart will be on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. March 3 and 10 at UCDA. This program is for existing business owners who want to explore growth options for their businesses.

Registration forms are available at the UCDA office or by calling 641-344-9725.

The classes offered will provide small business owners with business insights, strategic visioning guidance, professional networking connections and other resources, preparing them to create a new business or expand an existing enterprise.
