Dierks Bentley announced first for the 2016 Iowa State Fair Grandstand concert series

DES MOINES — Dierks Bentley is the first show announced for the 2016 Iowa State Fair Grandstand Concert Series sponsored by U.S. Cellular. Bentley will perform 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, and tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.

Bentley released his self-titled debut album in 2003, and the album’s single, “What Was I Thinkin’?” topped the country charts. His 2005 effort, Modern Day Drifter, also went platinum. Bentley became the youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry when he was inducted on Oct. 1, 2005 and that year, he won the CMA Horizon Award. Since that time, he has released four additional albums; his most recent is Riser, resulting in two number one hits, “I Hold On” and “Drunk on a Plane.”

New this year, the Iowa State Fair will be staggering on-sale dates for all Grandstand shows throughout the months of February through May, instead of a one-time on-sale date in April. All shows will be announced via e-newsletter, social media and news releases once they are finalized and the shows will go on sale shortly after each announce date. Also new this year, ticket prices will vary depending on location of seats in the Grandstand. Information on individual concerts will be available at iowastatefair.org/on-stage/grandstand/ as acts are announced.

Tickets will go on sale through all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000. All concert events are reserved seating. Beginning July 5, the fair’s ticket office will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday for walk-up orders only, assuming tickets remain; no mail, phone or fax orders. Convenience charges will apply to all tickets. Grandstand tickets do not include fair admission. Gate admission must be purchased separately.
