Following the meal, Jones told about her background, including living on a dairy farm in northwest Iowa, and her education. Jones told about summer day camps, alternative programs for 4-H members not involved in agriculture, the county fair and other topics including the effects of the bird flu outbreak last year on all poultry projects. She also announced the Peterson Farm Brothers from Kansas will perform Feb. 28 at the high school in Afton.

United Charitable Association is a new group working with homeless people, domestic violence victims and transitional housing for individuals. The association’s goal is to help them with safe temporary shelter. Both Doench and Norton are contacts for these groups.
