Hugh Kentch, 87, of Creston, formerly of Bolivar, Missouri, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.

Celebration of life services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Dan Fields will officiate. Visitation with family present will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established in Hugh’s name.

Hugh's remains will be transported to Kansas City, Missouri. Services in Kansas City will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., in Kansas City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City. The Rev. Neil Engle will officiate. Visitation with family present will be from noon until 1 p.m. service time Thursday, at the funeral home. Hugh Clinton Kentch, son of Berniece (Burnes) Kentch and Emmett Kentch, was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Willow Springs, Missouri. He graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1945. Hugh served in the United States Navy from February 1946 to February of 1948.

On Sept. 19, 1953, Hugh married Maty M. Godsy in Willow Springs, Missouri. He worked in the Kansas City area as a wholesale food buyer for A&P Grocery stores. Later, he worked as a store manager for TG&Y. In 1993, they moved to Bolivar, Missouri to retire. They moved to Creston in 2005, to live near their daughter.

Early on, Hugh was a little league coach. He has been a member of Raytown Christian Church in Raytown, Missouri, and First Baptist Church in Creston.

Survivors include son Neal (Mary) Kentch of Bloomington, Illinois; daughter Susan (Dr. Dan) Walker of Creston; granddaughters, Ann (Daniel) Barnett of Creston, Ellen Walker of Ankeny and Allison (Kenny) Fremont of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandsons, Jason and Clinton Barnett and sister Lyla Jean (Dale) Grissom of Olathe, Kansas.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents; wife Maty in 2010; son Dale Kentch; brother Emmett Kentch and sister Zelma Keeler.
