Jake Ryan Gutschenritter, 19, 305 S. Walnut St., was cited for following too close after an accident 1:31 a.m. Thursday on Ryan Drive.
According to a Union County Sheriff report, Gutschenritter, driving a 2006 Ford south on Ryan Drive, was either adjusting the radio or picking up his dropped wallet, did not see a legally parked 2009 Pontiac and hit the rear of the parked Pontiac, sending it into the east ditch. The Pontiac was unoccupied at the time of the accident. Gutschenritter’s vehicle ended up on the curb on the west side of the road.
Cory Daniel Rathe, 18, 602 S. Birch St., was injured in the accident, but was not transported to the hospital.
Damage estimates are $4,000 to Gutschenritter’s vehicle and $5,000 to the parked Pontiac.
