Postponed

CEDAR FALLS — The Iowa High School Athletic Association announced a major change for the final three state championship games.

The IHSAA tweeted on Thursday afternoon: “Due to worsening weather forecasts throughout Iowa, Friday’s championship games are postponed to Monday.”

The tweet linked to an announcement on the IHSAA website which said: “The decision was made based upon the National Weather Service forecast and the winter stem warning that has been issued for tomorrow.”

Monday’s games will be played at the same time they were scheduled for today, and tickets sold for Friday’s games will be honored on Monday. The Class 1A championship will be played at 11 a.m., the 2A title game will be at 2 p.m. and the 4A final is set for 7 p.m.

Thursday’s games

CEDAR FALLS — In championship games played Thursday at the UNI-Dome, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn held off Gilbertville Don Bosco 57-52, for the 8-Man crown; Gladbrook-Reinbeck defeated Akron-Westfield for the 1A title, 52-20; and Pella pulled away from Norwalk, 31-17, to gain its second straight 3A championship and extend its winning streak to 28 games.
