Marjorie Darlene (Sparks) Beck was born June 30, 1925, in Graham, Missouri, one of eight children born to Grover Cleveland Sparks and Myrtle (Clymans) Sparks. She grew up attending school in both Hopkins and Bedford.

On Oct. 13, 1943, she was united in marriage to Roy Robert Beck. Four children were born to bless this union, Robert, Judy, Rick and Terry. The couple made their home on a farm west of Sharpsburg for most of their lives. They moved into Vintage Park Assisted Living in Lenox. Roy passed away in September of 2012. Later due to failing health, Darlene moved to the Lenox Care Center where she was lovingly cared for.

Darlene enjoyed reading, crafting and working crossword puzzles. Over the years, she received much pleasure bird watching. She was always passionate about her family. She and Roy were active in raising not only their own children, but they were also active in their nieces and nephews lives as well. Roy and Darlene enjoyed wintering in Texas for 22 years. Together they played shuffle board and enjoyed visiting with friends. She was a member of Sharpsburg United Methodist Church and was a member of Eastern Star.

Left to cherish Darlene’s memory are her children, Judy (Richard) Lucht of West Des Moines, Rick (Bertie) Beck of Sharpsburg and Terry (Julie) Beck of Sharpsburg; nine grandchildren, Amanda Weakland, Michael Lucht, Brian Beck, Jason Inman, Chris Inman, Carrie Wood, Kisha Cronbaugh, Clayton Beck and Blythe Beck; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie (Donald) Scott of Lenox, along with many other family relatives and friends.
