Delmar Eblen, 90, of Creston died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center in Creston.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a prayer service starting at 6 p.m. Friday at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. Following the prayer service there will military rites performed by the Theodore J. Martens Creston VFW Post No. 1797. Burial will be at a later date at Massena Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Theodore J. Martens, Creston VFW Post No. 1797. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Delmar LaVern Eblen, son of Charles E. Eblen and Doris F. (Maas) Eblen, was born on April 4, 1925, south of Massena. He began his farming career helping his father with chores. On Aug. 23, 1943, Delmar joined the United States Marines Corp., serving in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in Chicago on Nov. 22, 1945.

On Aug. 10, 1947, Delmar married Virginia Adeline Westphal at the Bridgewater Methodist Church. Shortly after getting married, Delmar started Eblen Brothers Construction with his older brother. In 1964, Delmar began harvesting wheat, which he did for 23 years. After living on their farm for 53 years, they built a home in Creston in 2000.

Delmar is survived by his wife Virginia of Creston; brother Merritt Eblen of Creston; grandson Eric Eblen of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; great-granddaughter Kiley Eblen of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; nephew Mike (wife Karen) Eblen of Creston; niece Mauxie (husband Pat) King of Creston and sister-in-law Juanita Eblen of Des Moines.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; son Roger (wife Betty) Eblen; brothers, Don and Charles; sister Margaret (husband Charles) Blazek and nephews, Dallas Eblen and Ron Blazek.
