Union County 4-H’ers compete at Ak-Sar-Ben stock show

Seven Union County 4-H’ers competed Sept. 26 and 27 at the 2015 Ak-Sar-Ben Stock Show held in Omaha, Nebraska. The 4-H’ers competed in the areas of market beef, breeding beef, showmanship and a fitting challenge.

Annually, 98,000 visitors from 40 states and 12 foreign countries attend the Ak-Sar-Ben Stock Show and Rodeo. It includes four core events: the Douglas County Fair, the nation’s largest 4-H stock show; Heritage Parade and the Ak-Sar-Ben Rodeo, which features two professional rodeos; the Justin Boots Championship; and the Wrangler Champions Challenge Finale.

“Ak-Sar-Ben is another opportunity for the 4-H’ers to showcase their animal and all of the hard work they put into the project throughout the year. They are competing with some of the finest in the nation,” said Haley Jones, county youth and outreach coordinator.
