Ringgold County holds haunted Halloween hike

Join the Ringgold County Conservation Board Saturday, Oct. 24, for a “Haunted Halloween Hike” at Poe Hollow Park, located east of Mount Ayr on Highway 2. A less scary version of the hike for younger participants will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the regular hike starting at 7 p.m. Entry fees for adults are $10 and students are $5.

Registration for the hike will be at the enclosed Hawkins Hideaway Shelter, and a guide will lead you to the beginning of the trail. Groups of no more than 10 will leave every 10 minutes from the shelter house. The trail is similar to a one-mile hike on uneven terrain and is not suitable for strollers or walkers. There will be hay rides, popcorn, a fortune teller, hot cocoa, cookies and more.

All proceeds of this event will go towards funding the Ringgold County Nature Center. To register for a time slot at this event, please contact the Ringgold County Conservation Board at 641-464-2787. Same-day registrations are allowed.
