Kay Paxton

Valparaiso, Indiana

Kay (Manatrey) Paxton nee Kline of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully Oct. 2, 2015, at Rittenhouse, where she had resided since 2012.

Kay was born June 18, 1938, on a farm in rural Creston. In 1963, she moved to Valparaiso, Indiana, with her husband Rich Manatrey and three children, Monty, Kristin and Mark. In 1972, she entered the work force for the first time in her life. Kay and colleagues went on to establish Regional Appraisal Services in 1983. Kay continued her work as a real estate appraiser into the 1990s. She thoroughly enjoyed her numerous real estate associates and independence.

In 1992, she married Dick Paxton. Dick and Kay spent many years traveling between Big Sky Montana and Clearwater Florida. Kay especially enjoyed hiking in the Big Sky area. She loved her family, coffee, antiques, reading, gardening and Snoopy.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Kline in 1984 and Loa (Berry) Kline in 1988 and her sister Ruth Miller in 2013.

Kay is survived by her three children, Monty (Janet) Manatrey and Mark (Peggy) Manatrey of Valparaiso, Indiana and Kristin (Karl) Goebel, of Milford, Michigan. Kay adored her five grandchildren, Mark, John (Meka) and Amanda (Jonathan) Goebel – Hemingway, Matt and Marcelle Manatrey and her great-grandchildren Amelia Kay and Jonah Hemingway.

A family service will be held at a later date, when Kay will be laid to rest with her parents, in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery, Creston. Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Indiana.
