Healthier You

Southern Prairie YMCA has a four-week program called “4 Weeks to a Healthier You” starting Tuesday.

Class time is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at Southern Prairie YMCA and SWCC Green Room.

The YMCA is partnering with staff from Greater Regional Medical Center to instruct on the basics of nutrition and health, and to get moving with cardio and strength exercise.

Cost is $25 for four classes and a month pass to Southern Prairie YMCA. Registration is open through Tuesday.

The course is made up of four weekly one-hour classes taught by the following instructors:

Ginny Lents, RDLD, dietician for Greater Regional Medical Center; Becky Baker, advanced registered nurse practitioner with Greater Regional Medical Center; Dana Dodge, personal trainer for Southern Prairie YMCA.

Class one is about intrinsic motivation toward a lifestyle change. Class two is about the basics of nutrition and health and how to get moving with cardio and strength exercise.

Class three is a review of nutrition and exercise progress. Class four offers tools for continuing the journey toward living healthy.

Child watch is available for children between 6 weeks and 7 years old for $2 per child.
