Creston Chamber of Commerce happenings

October is designated Salute to Industry Month. Creston is very fortunate to have as many industries as we do, which produce such a wide variety of products and are such great community members.

Even beyond this, think of the jobs these industries bring to Creston, the events they help sponsor and promote, local groups they assist, the countless volunteer hours they devote to the community, businesses that they frequent and buy from and how they improve our industrial and commercial tax base to name but a few areas. If you know of someone who works at one of our industries, now is a great time to say thank you. Let them know how much we appreciate them being part of Creston not just this month but all year.

The Creston Chamber of Commerce would like to publicly recognize and say thank you to our industry members: Alliant Energy, Bunn-O-Matic Corporation, BNSF Railway Company, Inc., Creston Publishing Company, Farmers’ Cooperative Company, Ferrara Candy Company, Gavilon Grain, Green Valley Chemical Corporation and Midwest Carbonic Inc., Innovative Industries, Inc., Iowa Tool & Manufacturing, LLC, Petznick Printing Company, Precast Concrete Company, Precision Optical Group, R.E. Lewis Refrigeration, Vanmark Equipment LLC. and Wellman Dynamics Corp.

There are several activities that will take place in the community this month. Iowa’s Healthiest State Walk will take place on the 7th at various locations across Creston. Paint Creston Project

The Paint Creston Project is a program the Chamber and the Image Enhancement Committee has been sponsoring for six years to improve properties in Creston. It is an opportunity for selected homeowners to receive free paint for their home. Over this time, the program has been able to provide paint to 31 homes throughout Creston.

If you might be interested in the program for next year, please contact the Chamber so that information and an application can be sent to you in the spring.

The Creston Chamber maintains a civic and service clubs and volunteer organization list if you would like to become more involved. You can either stop by the Chamber Office for the list or go on line at www.crestoniowachamber.com. for the information.
