Lucille Schrodt

Lucille Schrodt, 89, of Afton died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. The Rev. Daniel Moore of Cromwell Congregational Church will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, north of Prescott. Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Lucille Marie Schrodt, daughter of Aaron S. and R. Gail (Presnell) Johnston, was born on April 6, 1926, in Ringgold County. Lucille attended Shannon City and Diagonal Schools until the death of her mother, when Lucille was 14. She then lived with her grandparents in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from North St. Paul High School. Following graduation, Lucille worked as a nurse aide in the North St. Paul Hospital.

On March 6, 1944, Lucille married Drexel Schrodt in St. Paul. The couple moved to Creston and Lucille continued her work as a nurse aide for Greater Community Hospital in Creston for several years. She also worked for various businesses in Creston, the post office in Cromwell and was a homemaker in Cromwell where they lived until 1971. Lucille and Drexel moved to Afton where they resided since 1984.

Lucille was a member of the Cromwell Congregational United Church of Christ.

Lucille is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Fred) Abell of Cromwell and Cindy (Mike) Potts of Creston; grandchildren, Scott Abell, Carrie Kleckner, Kate Cassill, R.J. Potts and Ann Abell; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Plackett of Pocatello, Idaho and Betty Lauffer of Chapin and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Drexel Schrodt on May 12, 2010; sister Ruth Ruff; brothers, Harold and Jim Johnston and brothers-in-law, Vern Lauffer and Clarence Ruff.
