Kent Dinner Club

Kent Dinner Club met Sept. 10 with 13 members in attendance. Next meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at Pizza Ranch.

Alpha Sigma Master

Alpha Sigma Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Sept. 10 with Cheryl McClure as hostess. Seven members were present.

Marilyn Larimore was honored with the Golden Circle Ritual, in recognition of her 50 years as a member of Beta Sigma Phi. McClure conducted the ceremony, assisted by Loretta Kelly and Dorothy Eyberg. Larimore was presented with a certificate, pin and yellow rose.

McClure conducted the business meeting and read from the Book of Beta Sigma Phi. Larimore gave advance notice of service projects for October and November.

The hostess gave the program, “A Tour of the Southwest.” She described the climate and weather of the four seasons in the “four corners” area of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah, and the beauty of the Grand Canyon and the mountains.

Refreshments included a decorated cake to signify the Golden Circle occasion.

Kiwanis

The weekly Kiwanis meeting was held 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, at the Windrow with 24 members and one guest present. President Jane Lowe presided and Ed Ritter gave the prayer. Chris Eaton was the finemaster.

The program was given by Roger Lanning from the Creston Balloon Days Committee. He updated the club on the history and planning that has gone into the Balloon Days weekend for the last 38 years.

Craig Mittag gave an update on the AED fundraising for the middle school that the club is donating this year.

Kiwanis is also sponsoring the “Keep a Kid Warm” coat giveaway for children in need from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Creston.

Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary

Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary met Wednesday.

Canasta winners were Maxine May, first; Janet Kessler, second; and Wanda Nash, third.

Gwen Sandeman won the door prize.

Next meeting will be a luncheon at noon Wednesday, Sept. 23.
