Thelma Cain, 87, of Creston, formerly of Lenox, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Lenox United Methodist Church. Fellowship with the family will follow the services at the church. Private family inurnment will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be given in Thelma's name. Online condolences may be left at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Ritchie Funeral Home, 124 S. Main St., Lenox is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Jane Cain, daughter of Carl Wagner and Mary (Addy) Wagner, was born April 14, 1928, in Madison County. She grew up attending country schools, graduating from high school in Patterson in 1945.

Thelma worked at JC Penney in Winterset for five years until she married Raymond (Curly) Cain of Lenox in 1950. In 1951, Curly went into the United States Air Force, while Thelma stayed with her parents in Winterset until he completed his training. Later, they were stationed in Wyoming and Bellingham, Wash., where she worked at JC Penney. While Curly was in Korea, she moved back to her parents again until they were stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Neb. where she worked for Mutual of Omaha. They moved to Lenox in 1958, where she worked for Porter’s Dry Goods and Bennett and Son before eventually becoming a full-time homemaker.

Thelma belonged to the Lenox United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.

Thelma is survived by her husband Curly of Creston; daughters, Candy (Steve) Hamilton of Creston and Carla (LeAnn) Cain of Des Moines; grandchildren, Erica (Jason) Wolfe, Kyle Kolthoff, Alex Kolthoff, Dustin (Amanda) Hamilton and Kassandra Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Quinton Kolthoff and Ayva Kolthoff and many nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn; brother Harold Wagner; sister-in-law Lois Wagner; her parents and her in-laws.
