Two former Creston/O-M players are part of this defensive line group at Northwest Missouri State University. Defensive tackle Collin Bevins (11) is the third player from right in the back row, and defensive nose guard Keaton Hulett (94) is the second player from right in the middle row. The Bearcats, ranked fifth by the American Football Coaches Association preseason poll, open the season 7 p.m. Thursday against Nebraska-Kearney in Kearney, Neb. Last year the Bearcats tied for the MIAA title with Pittsburg State, which is ranked No. 7 this year. Other former Creston/O-M players on college teams are Trey Benson, Iowa State; Alan Smith and Briar Evans, Morningside; Conner Pals, Concordia-St. Paul; Nathan Haley, Graceland University; Levi Eblen, Simpson College; and Cole Tanner and Alex Tamerius, Central College. DES MOINES — State qualifying cross country sites have been announced.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the state qualifying meet sites on Monday for meets that will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22. The assignments won’t be released until the week of Oct. 5.

Most southwest Iowa teams will likely be heading to Treynor (1A), Shenandoah (2A), Glenwood (3A) and Lewis Central (4A).

This year the top 15 individuals in each meet as well as the top three teams in each of the five meets in each class will qualify for state.
