Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 11:27 a.m. Aug. 20 on Highway 34.

According to a Creston Police report, Jeffrey Alan Starlin, 25, of Diagonal, driving a 2004 Chevrolet west on Highway 34, said his tire blew, he went across the highway into the yard of Caliber Optical Lab, 302 E. Taylor St. Suite A, corrected to get back onto the road and drove over the private drive of Caliber Optical Lab, causing damage to the driveway. Officers were able to locate Starlin's vehicle parked in a parking lot down the road by following the marks left in the road by the broken tire and fluid dripping from the vehicle.

Damage estimates are $4,000 to Starlin's vehicle and $700 to the yard and driveway of Caliber Optical Lab.

No citations were issued after an accident 5:29 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 34.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Rex Alan Hill, 63, of Kanawha was driving a 1997 Freightliner dump trailer loaded with gravel west in the 1800 block of Highway 34 and lost gravel out of the belly of the trailer, which bounced along the highway and broke or cracked windshields of a 2014 Buick driven by Jody Ann Nedley-Newcomb, 58, 511 N. Oak St., a 2004 Chevrolet driven by Charles Max Kissell, 62, 906 N. Cherry St., a 2005 Volkswagon driven by Waunita Jean Watt, 52, 800 N. Sumner Ave., a 2014 Ford driven by Larry Dean Brown, 66, of Afton, and a 2000 Ford driven by Brandon Wade Munstermann, 23, of Afton, all traveling east on Highway 34.

Damage estimates are none to Hill's vehicle, $500 to Nedley-Newcomb's vehicle, $800 to Kissell's vehicle, $500 to Watt's vehicle, $800 to Brown's vehicle and $500 to Munstermann's vehicle.
