More on veteran’s tax credit

From Darlene Loudon

Creston

I would like to clarify something in Lois Monday’s letter to the editor in Tuesday’s paper, Aug.18. When she brought up the “Loudon” name mentioned about the veterans property tax, the “Loudon” she brought up was not my late husband. My late husband was very much military. He fought in combat in the Korean War. He was 100 percent service-connected, and even so, it came down that I’m not eligible for the tax credit. He received an honorable discharge among other things for which we were very proud of him.

The Korean War is known as the “Forgotten War.” And that’s what it is. I know there is a lot of benefits available for the Vietnam Era. So go for it. The military system is broken. I think a first name needs to go with the last. If Monday is eligible, then more power to her.

My opinion is maybe our only hope is Mr. Trump to fix the military—the whole VA system from top to bottom. Our men, wives and children of the military deserve the best. My late husband was in the Army, and all branches are heros.
