Lawrence “Tony” Driskill, 83, of Tingley died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 at the Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City. The Rev. Lila Greene will officiate. Memorials may be left to the Shannon City Community Church. Watson-Armstong Funeral Home, 205 W Monroe St., in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements. Gathering will be at the Shannon City Community Church following service.
Tony Driskill, son of Martin and Evelyn Goodwin Driskill, was born on July 11, 1932 in Decatur County. Tony graduated from Shannon City High School in 1950.
Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and became an air policeman. He married Leona May Sanderson on June 5, 1955, after completion of his military career.
After adopting their first child, the couple moved from Council Bluffs to a farm near Creston in 1960. At that time, Tony began farming and continued farming until 1987 when the couple moved to Tingley. He then worked at Ron Simpson’s farm until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leona May Sanderson Driskill of Tingley; son Lauran Driskill (Cindy) of Afton; daughter LuAnn Driskill Lowe (Mike) of Lake Ozark, Mo.; brother Perry “Bill” Driskill (Diana) of Afton; sister Kay Billeter of Winterset; grandchildren, Donna Driskill Allen (Shawn) of Afton, Dustin Driskill of Creston, Joshua Lowe of Cedar Rapids and Deven Lowe of Cedar Rapids and great-grandchildren, Casey Allen, Chase Allen and Scott Driskill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ardith “Art” Driskill.
