Ronald A. Simpson, 75, of Shannon City died Aug. 17, 2015, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at the Shannon City Community Church with The Rev. Lila Greene officiating. Burial is in the Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City. Open visitation will be held noon to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., in Mount Ayr. Ronald Simpson, son of Rex A. and Helen Mickle Simpson, was born on Dec. 28, 1939 in Creston. Ron graduated from Shannon City High School in May 1957, and attended Iowa State University. He lived his entire life on the family farm outside of Shannon City, farming and dairying, first with his dad and family, and later with his wife and daughters.

On Feb.19, 1961, Ron married Karen Elaine Henry in Creston. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and the Shannon City Community Church.

Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen of Shannon City; daughters, Kimberly Lynn Kopke (Mark) of Amarillo, Texas and Deborah Simpson Thummel (Jeff) of Sheridan, Mo.; brother Mike Simpson (Beverly) of Chatfield, Minn.; sisters, Carol Oliver of Lacona and Mary Lou Cheers (Ron) of Afton,; grandchildren, Jennifer Long of Amarillo, Texas, Montana Kopke of Amarillo, Texas, Austin Thummel (Kylee) of Parnell, Mo., Chase Thummel of Sheridan, Mo. and Sydney Thummel of Sheridan, Mo.; great-grandson Kipton Thummel of Parnell, Mo.; several cousins, nieces and nephews; aunt Helen (Mickle) Davis and many friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Jerry Oliver.
