Wartburg College

WAVERLY - Ashley Haines of Creston graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in music applied (B.A.). She is the daughter of Danny and Elaine Haines.

Wartburg College awarded diplomas to 298 students during Spring Commencement May 24. Another 41 students are expected to graduate in August. Thirty-six members of the Class of 2015 graduated in December.

Wartburg, a four-year liberal arts college internationally recognized for community engagement, enrolls 1,661 students. Wartburg is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and named after the castle in Germany where Martin Luther took refuge disguised as a knight during the stormy days of the Reformation while translating the Bible from Greek into German.

University of Iowa

IOWA CITY - About 5,100 students received degrees from the University of Iowa at the close of the spring 2015 semester.

Students from the area receiving degrees included:

Chance Lacina of Afton received a BS-Psychology degree.

Nicholas Neitzel of Creston received a BS-Leisure Studies degree.

Nadyne Montiel Hidalgo of Lenox received a MSW-Social Work degree.

Patrick Cooley of Orient received a BA-Sport Studies degree.
