I just completed the survey on the Creston recycling trial. This is the program where the homeowner has one large recycle bin and all recycling is put into that one bin which is then picked up by Waste Management every two weeks.
At first it seemed strange putting newspaper, cans, hard plastic, and glass together, but after getting used to it, I found I did a much better job of cleaning those items even to sticking the peanut butter or Hellmann’s jar in the dishwasher as both are difficult to empty. Yes it is easier, yes it is convenient, yes I want to keep it. No longer did my garage fill up with small bags of glass jars, bulking milk jugs, and piles of newspapers. Just fill the bin and roll it to the curb every two weeks.
Please, city of Creston, let us join Corning, Osceola, and other small cities near us and expand this program to include our city.
