Dale Hanson Clarinda

Dale Hanson, 88, of Clarinda died June 27, 2015, at Westridge Care and Rehab Center in Clarinda.

Celebration of life services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda. The Rev. Dan Wiebesiek officiated. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Westridge Care and Rehab Center. Online condolences may be left at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com.

Dale Edward Hanson, son of Lillian Charlotte (Christell) and Maurice Henning Hanson, was born Aug. 16, 1926, on the family farm in Nodaway Township, Taylor County.

Dale attended Fairview School through the eighth grade and graduated from Villisca High School in 1944.

Dale was drafted into the United States Army in January 1945 serving in the Philippines and was an MP as part of the occupation force in Japan, receiving an honorable discharge in August 1946.

On Feb. 6, 1950, Dale married Mary Etta Marshall of Bedford in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After the wedding Dale and Mary moved to the farmhouse where he was born.

Dale was a life long farmer operating a diversified crop and livestock operation following the latest technology and farming practices.

Dale was a member of the New Market American Legion Post 300, Farm Bureau, Taylor County Cattlemen’s Association and Iowa Pork Producers, salesman for Garst Seed Company for 30 years and 18 year leader of the Dallas Boys 4-H Club.

Dale is survived by his wife Mary Etta Hanson of Clarinda; sons, James of New Market and Edward of Clarinda; brothers-in-law, Frank Marshall and wife Shana of Carson City, Nev., and David Marshall of Fredericksburg, Va.; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Maurice and Lorence; and sisters, Dorothy Brummett and Arlene Orme.
