Create your own masterpiece at WCC’s art party

GREENFIELD — Come create your own masterpiece and spend an evening with friends at the Warren Cultural Center’s first-ever art party July 23. Warren Cultural Center is located in Greenfield.

Under the direction of art teacher Alexa Hoffman, participants will paint their own version of “The Starry Night,” while enjoying beverages, snacks and conversation.

Advance registration is required and seating is limited, so call or stop by Ed and Eva's store, on the square in Greenfield, or call 641-743-2566, or go to the website www.warrenculturalcenter.com. Cost is $35 per person and includes all materials (drinks and snacks not included).

Hoffmann started her art career at Iowa State University, obtaining a B.F.A in 2001. In 2002, she added a bachelor’s degree in art education and has worked as the K-12 art teacher at Orient-Macksburg for the past 11 years. In her free time, when she can find some away from her three children, she enjoys drawing and painting.

“Creating art is a lifelong learning process that never gets old,” she said.

“The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh is one of the most recognized artworks in the world. The oil on canvas is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The WCC class is made possible in part by a grant from the T.N. Howe Fund/Greater Greenfield Community Foundation.
