Murray sails 12-0 on senior night

MURRAY — The Murray Lady Mustangs made quick work of their 12-0 senior night victory over Orient-Macksburg Friday, finishing the victory in three innings.

Murray sent 15 batters to the plate in the first inning against Bulldog pitchers Shannon Eads and Courtney Neal.

McKenzie McIntosh was 2-of-2 with a pair of RBI for Murray in a game in which several substitutes were inserted by coach Danny Jensen. Deena Snyder, Madison Gonseth and Brandi Gilbert also drove in two runs each.

Breianna Klein allowed two hits with five strikeouts and no walks in three innings. Eads and Cameo Walker had O-M’s two hits.

O-M fell to 0-17 and Murray improved to 18-3 before going 2-1 on Saturday in the Nodaway Valley Tournament. Eighth-ranked Logan-Magnolia beat Murray 6-1 before the Lady Mustangs defeated Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton 3-2 in nine innings and Tri-Center 11-0.

Senior catcher McKenzie Case suffered a broken leg in a collision at home plate in the Exira/EH-K game and is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday.

Case was honored during senior night activities Friday along with Snyder, Chellsea Jones and Alexis Tracy.
