Virginia May Seeley, 92, of Grinnell and formerly of Afton, Iowa died June 23, 2015, at Windsor Manor in Grinnell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Afton. Burial will be held in the Afton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Afton Methodist Church or Grinnell Regional Hospice.

Virginia was born July 8, 1922, in Afton, the eldest child of Harry Truman and Mildred Cole Briggs. She was baptized and became a member of the Afton Methodist Church at an early age. She was a 1940 graduate of Afton High School. After high school, she began working at Commercial State Bank in Afton and continue there as an assistant cashier until her retirement in 1985. The couple moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell in 2002 and most recently she moved to Windsor Manor.

On September 2, 1945, she was united in marriage with Donald Seeley, in Osceola. The couple had three children, all reared on their farm north of Afton. Her children graduated from East Union High School and all continued their educations in institutions of higher learning. She was extremely proud of them.

Virginia was a member of the Afton Methodist Church and P.E.O. She taught Bible and Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include three children, DiAnne (Ron) Lillie of Grinnell, Greg (Carolyn) Seeley of Overland Park, Kansas and Scot (Wileen) Seeley of Afton; five grandchildren, Tammy Lillie (Stacey) Brackett, Chris (Traci) Lillie, Jim Seeley, Mike (Colleen) Seeley and Travis (Kamalea) Seeley; one step-granddaughter, Kari (Brian) Davis; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Don in 2009; two sisters, Marjorie Mikkelsen and Shirlee Deahl; and one brother, Truman Briggs.
