Dennis Chenoweth, 55, of Afton died June 16, 2015, in Afton.

Celebration of life services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. The Rev. Ben Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Afton. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dennis Richard Chenoweth, son of Marquerite Christina (Ginrich) and Floyd Junior Chenoweth, was born Dec. 28, 1959, in Perry.

Dennis graduated from East Union High School in 1978.

On May 25, 1979, Dennis married Janell Lynn Smith in Lorimor.

Dennis worked for Wellman-Dynamics before moving to Arizona, where he worked as a mechanic with his brothers. Later, he and Janell moved back to Afton where he worked at a DX Gas Station. He and Janell later built and ran Chenoweth Service. After many years of running his own business, Dennis worked for McNeill’s Tree Service. Currently, Dennis was working for East Union Schools as a bus driver and janitor.

Dennis is survived by his wife Janell of Afton; sons, Eric (wife Ashley) Chenoweth of Cromwell and Ray Chenoweth of Afton; daughter Rachel (husband Andrew) Colson of Sellersburg, Ind.; grandchildren, Diem Colson, Abigail and Kamdyn Chenoweth and Emma Hepp and Braden Molyneux; brothers, Charles (wife Terry) Chenoweth and Jerrold (wife Dolorez) Chenoweth, all of Cottonwood, Ariz., Floyd (wife Muriel) Chenoweth of West Burlington, Donald (wife Mary Jo) Chenoweth of Apopka, Fla., Herman (wife Sheila) Chenoweth of Afton, Harold (wife Pam) Chenoweth of Longwood, Fla., Kenneth (wife Shellie) Chenoweth of Fair Grove, Mo., Orval Chenoweth of West Plains, Mo., and Christopher of Davenport; sisters, Janet (husband John) O’Hare and Carol (husband Bruce) Marshall, all of Tucson, Ariz., Mary (husband Bryan) Galivan and Kathryn (husband Randy) Pentico, all of Perry; many nieces and nephews and other family.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother David; and niece Cheryl Jo Chenoweth.
