Greater Regional Medical Center has expanded its health and wellness services available to women with the addition of the Eviva Breast Biopsy System from Hologic, Inc. for use under stereotactic (mammography) guidance.
The Eviva Breast Biopsy system is designed to improve the quality, accuracy and ease of stereotactic-guided breast biopsies. Greater Regional is the only southwest Iowa location offering this service in-house.
The Eviva device is a fully closed system that uses vacuum-assisted technology to perform a breast biopsy that typically lasts one-minute. The precision of the Eviva system allows for the ability to compassionately treat a broader spectrum of patients giving more women an alternative to open surgical biopsy. Samples are obtained through a very small incision in the skin, typically excluding the need for post-biopsy stitches and minimizing procedure time. These benefits allow most patients to return to daily activities immediately following the procedure.
