CLARINDA — Lenox scored 16 runs on 10 hits here Friday in a five-inning win over Clarinda Academy.

Dusten Reed pitched three innings for the Tigers, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Leevi Marshall pitched two innings of relief with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed.

Colton Hogan went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, while Kaleb Anderson was 2-3 with two RBI. Aaron Schmitz also drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers. Caleb Lange was 2-2 at the plate.

Pleasantville 10, Mount Ayr 0

PLEASANTVILLE — Pleasantville senior Josh Luna held Mount Ayr scoreless and struck out eight batters in a 10-0 win in five innings here Friday.

Junior Jacob Taylor was charged with the loss for the Raiders, giving up eight runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and four walks in four innings. Levi Jarred pitched one inning of relief.

Wood-Granger 12, SW Valley 1

GRANGER — Woodward-Granger struck for six runs in the second inning on its way to pulling away for a 12-1 win over Southwest Valley here on Friday.

Nick Frederick was charged with the loss for Southwest Valley, pitching two innings and giving up five earned runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Lane Peterson pitched two innings of relief, giving up thee earned runs on three hits.

Frederick singled and scored a run. Bryan Pearson drove in the lone run for the Timberwolves with a single. Ryan Carlson and Ryan Allison each singled in the loss.

“It was very much a first game for us,” Southwest Valley head coach Pete Nett said. “We had some difficulties catching the ball in the field, and that problem usually snowballs into other things for us.”

I-35 Tourney

TRURO — Southwest Valley finished 1-1 for the day here Saturday at the Interstate 35 Tournament.

The Timberwolves opened with a 14-4 loss to Wayne, as Ryan Allison drove in a pair of runs and Lane Peterson finished with one RBI.

Trenton Drake took the loss on the hill for the Timberwolves.

Southwest Valley then rebounded to score four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to knock off East Union, 6-5.

Nick Frederick picked up the win in relief, pitching four innings and giving up just one hit with five strikeouts. Chance Cobb started for the Timberwolves, going three innings with three earned runs on two hits and eight walks.

Mason Gossman took the loss for East Union.

Cobb singled and doubled with two RBI for Southwest Valley, while Bryan Pearson drove in a pair of runs. Cody McMann also drove in a run.

“It was nice to get our first win in the second game, and even better to come from behind to get it,” Southwest Valley head coach Pete Nett said. “Bryan Pearson had a big two-RBI hit to tie the game and Cody McMann had a great full-count at-bat when he put the ball in play and drove in teh go-ahead run.”
