Marjorie Foy, 92, of Shannon City died May 28, 2015, at Afton Care Center.

Graveside memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Shannon City. The Rev. Lila Green will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Shannon City. Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Oak Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Marjorie Carol Foy, daugther of Anna Patricia (Wyatt) and Ralph Leroy McGruder, was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Tracy.

Marjorie graduated from Burlington High School in 1940.

On July 27, 1941, Marjorie married Jesse Vaughn Foy in Memphis, Mo.

They settled in Burlington where she did factory work during World War II. She later moved to a farm southwest of Shannon City where she worked as an active farm wife and on the line at Swifts Packing Plant. She worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney’s in Creston.

In 1957, Marjorie became co-owner of the general store in Shannon City that they purchased from E.L. Edwards which they operated until 1969. Marjorie also took care of Jesse in his later years from 1984 until his death in 1985.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Linda Lee (husband David) James in Creston; son Michael Foy (Diane Smith) of Arispe; grandchildren, Jeri Smith, Joni Stonehacker, Jan Dallmeyer, Eric Foy, Pam Heagle and Brian Foy; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Betty McGruder.
