Donald Strange

Donald Strange, 102, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Creston, died May 28, 2015, at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. The Rev. Delores Doench and the Rev. Skip Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Visitation with family present will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. service time Monday at the funeral home. Fred Donald Strange, son of Jean Allen and Fred Strange, was born June 13, 1912, in Diagonal. He spent his youth in Diagonal.

On Sept. 18, 1933, Donald married Unity Johnston in Creston.

Don farmed south of Creston from 1943 until moving into Creston in 1978.

Don was a member of the Platte Center Church.

Don is survived by his daughter Shirley (husband Robert) Erickson of Mount Ayr; grandson Mark (wife Brenda) Erickson of New Virginia; great-grandchildren, Alexi and Toriann Erickson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2004; brother Walt (wife LaVeta) Strange; in-laws Merlyn (wife Cleatie) Johnston; brothers-in-law, August (wife Mae) Johnston and Cleatus (wife Carol) Johnston; great-grandson Jacobie Allen Erickson in infancy; and niece Barbara Johnston.
