Ora ‘Rex’ James

Ora “Rex” James, 83, of Logansport, Ind., died Jan. 18, 2015, at Chase Center in Logansport.

A memorial visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning, Iowa. Private inurnment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Corning. Ora “Rex” James, son of Buena Elizabeth Sage and Milton Perry James, was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Corning.

On Aug. 7, 1950, in Kellerton, Rex married Sandra Gee, who survives in Logansport.

Rex graduated as valedictorian of Kellerton High School in 1948, and received a degree from the Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa. Later he became a registered nurse, earning a degree from Indiana University – Kokomo. He had been employed as a nurse at Logansport State Hospital.

Rex was a member of Logansport Church of Christ.

Rex is survived by his sons, Lyman (Dianne) James of Tampa, Fla., Dennis James of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Stanley James of Tampa; daughter Marcia (Alvin) Miller of Swisher; brother Robert James of Council Bluffs; and sister Lois Meyer of Ottumwa.

Rex was preceded in death by his brother Leon James.
