Thank you to all who came to the early DAR Memorial Day service Monday morning. It was rainy, chilly and very windy, but just about the time the service was over the sun came out and the wind calmed down a bit.
The Veterans Memorial Garden in McKinley Park is a lovely setting for the service. Those who keep the park beautiful all year long are also to be commended.
Each year the VFW men provide the podium, the sound equipment and most of all them are there to fire the salute and play taps. This is only the first of the three services in Creston where these men give of their time on every Memorial Day.
DAR members taking part in the service were Connie Kinkade, Jane Briley, Bonnie Riepe and Lynne Schlaht.
Especially on Memorial Day we remember those brave men and women who gave their lives so that we could enjoy the privileges of living in the United States.
