Donald Hansen

Donald Hansen, 63, of Afton died May 25, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. Burial will be in Grove Chapel Cemetery, southwest of Creston. Flag presentation will be conducted by Theodore J. Martens Post No. 1797. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Join the family and friends following the burial for lunch and refreshments at Afton United Methodist Church. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Donald Hansen, son of Lurena Mae (Ruff) and John Kenneth Hansen, was born Jan. 18, 1952, in Creston.

Donald attended East Union High School and later served in the U.S. Navy.

On July 21, 1974, Don married Shellie Lynn Dudney in Creston. He worked for Max Smith Construction in Creston. He and Shellie later divorced.

Donald later married Diana Lynn McVay on July 28, 1980, in Lorimor. He traveled to many different states doing construction projects. Donald and Diana later divorced.

Donald is survived by his mother Lurena Hansen of Afton; daughters, Kami Guzman of Underwood, Dusti Hansen of LaVista, Neb., Kali (husband James) Myers of Burkburnett, Texas, and Billie Jo (husband William) Davenport of Afton; brother Tom (wife Mary Ann) Hansen of Arispe; grandchildren, Noe and Reina Guzman, Maria Villegas, Alex Morales, Hilary Servantez, Rebecca Hallman, Cristian Guzman, Jazmin and Julian Paniagua, McKensie and J. J. Myers, David Davenport Hansen and Cameron Davenport and a special friend Theresa Hartman and many nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Johannes and Lola May Hansen and Clarence Ruff and Lorah Russell; and several aunts and uncles.
