Creston

Clarence Lamb, 85, of Iowa City, formerly of Creston, passed away peacefully at home in Iowa City, Iowa with his family by his side on May 24, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Doug Brunell will officiate. Following the service luncheon will be provided at the First Presbyterian Church, 702 W. Prairie Street, Creston, Iowa. Burial at Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, Iowa will follow the luncheon. Open visitation will be from 2:00 pm -7:00 pm. Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue, Creston, Iowa with the family to receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Memorials can be donated to the Creston Congregate Meals or the First Presbyterian Church of Creston. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Clarence Edward Lamb was born on December 27, 1929 in Creston, Iowa to Cleona and Lew Lamb, Sr. He attended Creston High School. He married Elsie Mae Eivins in 1950 and they resided in Creston until 2010. Clarence was employed for many years at the Creston Meat Locker and then Trolli Gummi Bear Factory. The position he enjoyed most was delivering meals for the Creston Congregate Meals.

Clarence was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Creston. Over the course of 57 years with the church he served as a deacon, an elder and a head elder. He and Elsie served as leaders of the Youth Fellowship Group.

Clarence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished the time with his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, puzzles, cooking, playing cards, and wildlife. He loved his pets.

Clarence is survived by two daughters Janet Outlund of Iowa City, Ia. and Marcia (husband Michael) Kelly of Batavia, Ill.; a son Kenneth (wife Glynda) Lamb of North Liberty, Ia.; seven grandchildren, MacKenzie (husband Stuart) Outlund Dietz of Boston, Mass., Erin Outlund of Los Angeles, Calif., Olivia Outlund of Iowa City, Ia., Allison Outlund of Seattle, Wash., Jacob (wife Angela) Lamb of Kalona, Ia., Jon (wife Sarah) Lamb of Coralville, Ia. and Richard Lamb of Iowa City, Ia. and three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Lamb both of Kalona, Ia. and Christopher Lamb of Coralville, Ia. He is also survived by his brother, Lew Lamb, Jr. (wife Janet) of Altoona, Ia. and sister, Mary Ann Fallis, of Urbandale, Ia. Clarence was preceded death by his wife, parents, three sisters Betty Dye, Irene McKeehan, Doris Cain and a brother, Donald Lamb.
