Week No. 4 cut short at Adams County Speedway

CORNING — It looked all week, as if Mother Nature would cooperate just enough for week number four of weekly racing at the Adams County Speedway to be completed.

It was a week that was supposed to double as Iowa State Savings Bank Night with a kids candy drop presented by ISBEE, along with Lutheran Brotherhood presenting Military Appreciation Night, allowing all military personnel to obtain free admission.

However, rain would quickly force its way into the area prompting Saturday’s action to end early.

Short feature

It was the only feature that would be completed on Saturday night, but it failed to disappoint as a 29-car lineup took the field for the Stalker Chevrolet B-Modified feature. The race consisted of many intriguing battles all throughout the field, but was marred by a plethora of yellow flags due to accidents.

As the race progressed it became evident the race to victory was a five-car battle between Kody Havens, Shawn Kralik, Josh Most. Jerod Weston and Austin Kaplan. Havens set the pace, but had many contenders lurking behind in the wings waiting to seize the opportunity for victory.

Roll-over

With five laps to go a multi-car accident would occur on the front stretch including the likes of David Schwartz, David Orr, Devyn Peterson and Brett Sheppard. A scary moment occurred when Peterson’s 5D car rolled over.

Petersen however was able to walk away from the accident uninjured. Rain begin to fall during the lengthy caution period, prompting Havens to be shown the checkered flag, and the rest of the nights’ features to be postponed. Most would finish second, followed by Kralik, Weston and Kaplan.

Double dose

Racing will continue this weekend at Adams County Speedway, bringing fans Iowa Corn District 7 Night. Last week’s postponed features will be run, meaning that all classes except the Stalker Chevrolet B-Modifieds will run two feature races. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 p.m followed by racing action beginning at 7 p.m.
