It was disappointing to attend the thank you coffee for our school board members on Monday (May 18) and see Creston’s business community represented by so few. Creston Radio and Iowa State Savings Bank were present, and there may have been more I missed, but don’t we as a community need to thank those people who are trying to make Creston a better place to live and make a living? The teachers and staff were also present.
The board has a thankless job, but it is made better by the input and support of the community. Nothing is more important in this day and age than making sure our young people have an opportunity to have an excellent education filled with choices and opportunities. Let’s do a better job of supporting our schools and the boards that serve.
