Accident

No citations were issued after an accident 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Sumner and New York avenues.

According to a Creston Police report, George Richard Queck, 65, of Fontanelle, driving a 2015 Chevrolet, and Shaiyena Maree Weaselhead, 20, of Diagonal, driving a 2003 Dodge, were stopped at a red light on Sumner Avenue and began slowly accelerating as the light turned green, when Andy Dean Gist, 39, 803 W. Jefferson St., driving a 2005 Ford, came up behind them too fast and rear-ended Weaselhead’s vehicle, which pushed Weaselhead’s vehicle forward into the rear of Queck’s vehicle.

Damage estimates are $200 to Queck’s vehicle, $500 to Weaselhead’s vehicle and $1,500 to Gist’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on Warbler Avenue.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Tia Nicole Gilliland, 24, of Mount Ayr, driving a 2012 Dodge, was going around a curve on Warbler Avenue when she lost control and went into the ditch. While going into the ditch, Gilliland’s vehicle struck a road sign and post. Gilliland was transported by a friend to Greater Regional Medical Center, where her condition is unknown.

Damage estimates are $3,500 to Gilliland’s vehicle and $200 to the sign and post.
