Buescher wins NASCAR Xfinity Series 3M 250

NEWTON – Defending NASCAR XFINITY Series champion, Chase Elliott, looked poised Sunday to win his second career NASCAR race at Iowa Speedway and his first in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.

But it was a gamble by Chris Buescher and his No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing team that prevented Elliott from returning to Casey’s General Stores Victory Lane.

Buescher gambled, took two tires and then took off on the final restart to win the NASCAR XFINITY Series 3M 250 at Iowa Speedway. The win was his first of 2015 and the fifth for Roush Fenway Racing at Iowa Speedway.

The win in Iowa also gives Buescher the series points lead by eight points over Ty Dillon, who was having a strong run on Sunday, too, but had it ruined by a tire going down with 10 laps left in regulation.

Elliott led a race-high 114 laps and had been half a lap from winning the race in regulation when Jamie Dick brought out the final caution by hitting the wall.
