GREENFIELD — The Valley girls soccer team cruised to a 3-0 shutout win over Des Moines Christian here Tuesday.

Hailey Gross scored 36:33 into the first half after Abby Miller crossed the ball into the middle of the field from the left. Gross added another goal just 1:23 later, as Emmy Godfroy made a long pass to Gross in the middle of the field.

Alicia Urquhart put the finishing touches on the 3-0 win with a goal from the right side after Miller crossed the ball to her from the left, 54:20 into the match.

The match was one of two senior nights for the team, honoring Nodaway Valley’s lone senior on the squad, Payge Newbury.

“It was a good team win to give our senior a win on her night,” head coach Michael Krawczyk said. “We played great defense tonight, with Hannah (Link) getting the shutout. Our midfielders and defensive midfielders controlled the midfield for most of the game.”

GREENFIELD — The Des Moines Christian boys soccer team posted an 8-0 win over Nodaway Valley here Tuesday.

Des Moines Christian scored five goals in the first half.

Fabien Niyiora and Thomas Kinley scored two goals apiece for the Lions.
