Dwayne McClelland, 74, of Greenfield died April 25, 2015, at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by Greenfield American Legion Head-Endres Post No. 265, V.F.W. Post No. 5357 and Fontanelle American Legion Carlson Post No. 247 at Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following burial services. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield. Dwayne Arthur McClelland, son of Leila (Lyddon) and Wilbur McClelland, was born Oct. 11, 1940, in rural Greenfield.

Dwayne grew up on the family farm north of Greenfield, attending school in a one-room school prior to graduating from Greenfield High School in 1959. After graduation, he volunteered and served seven years with the U.S. Army Reserve, including completing basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

On May 1, 1960, Dwayne married Priscilla Reha in Orient. They resided in Greenfield all their lives.

Dwayne initially worked for the Greenfield Elevator, prior to beginning a 31-year career with United Telephone Company in 1964. He started as a lineman and with additional training and school he advanced to a switchman. After retiring from the telephone company in 1995, he worked for Cardinal Insulated Glass for eight years before retiring for good in 2003.

Dwayne was a long time member of Greenfield Methodist Church, where he served on many church committees. He also served on the Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, including two terms as fire chief.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Priscilla of Greenfield; children, Lori (Mark) Ramsey of Greenfield and Steven of Urbandale; grandsons, Kyle (Jenna) Ramsey of Stanton, Clay Ramsey of Ames and Nicholas and Tyler McClelland of Iowa City; brother Larry of Greenfield; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Gene and Dick.
